REPORT ON ALUMNI GUEST LECTURE ON “START UPS”
SRM Valliammai Engineering College, Department of Management Studies organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Startups” on 29.4.2024, aimed at providing students with insights and experiences from successful alumni in the field of entrepreneurship. The event aimed to inspire, educate and empower students to embark on their entrepreneurial journey with confidence.
The guest lecture for the event were Mr .M. Sundarraj , Consultant Cloud Security at HCL Tech Chennai(Batch 2012 – 2014) and Dr J. Johnson, Regional HRBP – South at HDFC Bank Ltd. (Batch 2016 -2018). Both speakers brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the discussions, offering unique perspectives on the startup ecosystem.
Dr M.Venkat Sai Srinivasa Rao , Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, tudents. The extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guest speakers and attendees. He emphasized the significance of the alumni guest lecture in bridging the gap between academia and industry, and its role in nurturing the spirit of entrepreneurship among students. The alumni guest lecture was coordinated by Dr L. Sujatha and Dr M. Ganesan Alias Kanagaraj, who ensured the smooth execution of the event and facilitated interactions between the guest lecture and students.
Mr. M. Sundarraj shared his journey from being a student at SRM Valliammai Engineering College to his current role as a Consultant Cloud Security at HCL Tech Chennai. He discussed the importance of innovation adaptability and perseverance in the startup journey, drawing from his own experiences.
Dr J. David Johnson provided valuable insights into the human resource aspects of startups, emphasizing the significance of talent acquisition, employee engagement and organizational culture in driving startup success. The initiative session saw engaging discussion between the guest speakers and students, covering topics such as ideation, funding, market validation and scaling. It was a really splendid presentation which exposed all participants to the field practices. The alumni guest lecture on “Startups” was a resounding success, inspiring students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and providing them with actionable insights to navigate the challenges of startup ventures. All the MBA department faculty members of SRM Valliammai Engineering College and MBA students got benefited from views on the subject. Totally, 150 students are participated and 13 faculties are involved in the session.
