PRESS NOTE - MBA ORIENTATION PROGRAM – (OP- 22)
The Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous), Kattankulathur, organized an Orientation Programme (OP22) for the First-Year MBA students of the 2026–2028 batch on 31 August 2026 at the New Seminar Hall. The programme was conducted from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the objective of helping newly admitted MBA students understand the academic environment, professional expectations and opportunities available during their management education.
The programme was organized to provide students with a meaningful introduction to the MBA learning journey and to motivate them to develop the knowledge, skills, professional attitude and leadership qualities required to succeed in the corporate and entrepreneurial world. The orientation also served as an opportunity for students to interact with an experienced industry professional and gain insights into current business practices.
The Chief Guest, Mr. P. Amuthan Rajkumar, Vice President – Marketing, Parvathy Hospitals, Chennai, addressed the first-year MBA students. Drawing from his professional experience in the field of marketing, he highlighted the importance of effective communication, leadership, customer orientation, teamwork, adaptability and continuous learning in building a successful management career.
In his interaction with the students, the Chief Guest emphasized that an MBA is not merely about acquiring a management qualification but about developing the ability to analyze business situations, make informed decisions, solve problems and lead people effectively. He encouraged the students to actively participate in academic activities, industry interactions, seminars, workshops, internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
The session also motivated students to understand the changing expectations of the business environment, where managers need to combine technical knowledge, managerial competencies, digital awareness and interpersonal skills. Students were encouraged to develop a positive professional attitude and remain open to learning new technologies and emerging business practices.
The orientation programme provided the students with valuable exposure to the expectations of the corporate sector and helped them gain a broader perspective on their MBA journey. The interaction with the industry expert enabled students to connect classroom learning with real-world managerial practices and career opportunities.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. K. Suresh, Assistant Professor; Dr. K. Latha, Associate Professor; and Dr. B. Elamurugan, Associate Professor. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Venkat SSR Muramalla, Professor & Head, Department of Management Studies.
The programme was graced by Dr. S. Visalakshi, Vice-Principal, and Dr. M. Murugan, Principal, whose support contributed to the successful conduct of the orientation programme. The Orientation Programme concluded with an encouraging and positive learning experience for the first-year MBA students. The session successfully created awareness about the academic and professional journey ahead and motivated the students to make effective use of the opportunities provided by the Department of Management Studies.
