Tamil Nadu
Co-operative Milk Producers Federation Limited (TNCMPFL), the Ministry of
Cooperation, the Government of Tamil Nadu, and the TNCMPFL trademark are the
proprietors of Aavin, a State Government Cooperative. Aavin buys milk, refines
it, and distributes milk and dairy products to customers. The company uses
cutting-edge production techniques to guarantee the effectiveness and quality
of its milk output. Every level of production incorporates quality control
procedures to produce goods that live up to client expectations. Furthermore,
initiatives are taken to reduce packaging waste and encourage environmentally
responsibly.
Then the admin staff took us inside
the production area and explained us step by step process of milk productions. The milk processing section in processing plants
contains all operations of milk like collecting milk from farmers, storing milk
in tanks at below 4 °C then separating, pasteurizing and homogenizing for
making good quality milk products by using milk processing equipment. High-Temperature
Short-Time method, where the milk is heated to 71.6°C for only 15 seconds (i.e)
Pasteurization makes milk safe for human consumption by destroying pathogenic
germs (pathogens) Pasteurization in dairy plants is done to make the product
safe for use and to extend product shelf life. Madhavaram plant produces
4 varieties of Milk such as toned milk, double toned milk, standardised milk
and full cream milk with different fat and SNF content. There are 19 different quality
checks before transportation of milk packets. After packaging the milk packets
are stored below 5 °C in cold rooms and then distributed to
consumers. Aavin operates on a cooperative model, empowering local milk
producers through an extensive network of dairy cooperatives across the state.
One of Aavin's key strengths lies in its robust procurement system. It sources
milk directly from farmers, offering fair prices and ensuring a steady income
for countless rural households. This approach not only supports farmers but
also maintains the quality of milk supplied to consumers. By integrating modern
technology with traditional practices, it has revolutionized the dairy sector.
Once we gathered
information about the production of milk again we came out through the exit
door where we were served with ice cream and chocolate. Then management staff
addressed the students regarding their experience with the industrial visit and
the explanations given by the staff. He also asked and clarified our doubts. By
