INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO MODERN BAKERS PVT LTDMADHAVARAM PLANT.

 

On November 12th2024, the Department of Management Studies at SRM ValliammaiEngineering College at SRM Nagar Kattankulathur organised an industrial visit to MODERN BAKERS PVT LTD, PARLE-G COMPANY plant was visited by the I Year MBA Section - 2 students (total 55) to acquire practical experience with the production process and managerial duties and other operational activities involved in the PARLE-G Manufacturing plant.

 

 The students were accompanied by Mr. Haridharan K.N and Ms. Asha priyadharishiniA and visited the Modern Bakers pvt ltd. We reached the spot around 11:00AM, the plant’s Admin staff welcomed us with open arms.

As we visited the PARLE-Gproduction plant. They provided us with the safety sanitary kits like Head cap, Face mask, etc.

First we looked up the plant layout which was placed at the entrance and the employee who accompanied us gave the details about the plant.

 They took us around the unit and explained us each and every step in the production process of Biscuits.

 The factory outlay was perfectly organized and both the pathways had boards stating their layout blueprint.

 

 ABOUT COMPANY INSIGHTS GAINED BY STUDENTS:

 The Employee who accompanied gave us clear details about the Plant's process and function.

 MODERN BAKERS PVT LTDare the major products of parle such as their

biscuits Karack Jack, 20-20, Biscuits,their confectioneries such as Mango bites, Kaccha mango bite,Toffee,Ppopins, Parle kreams, kissme chocolates and others snacksin their bakery.

 

 Founded and established in 1939 in Chennai, India, by Mohanlal Dayal Chauhan and headquartered in Bombay, India.

 ·       Product Range: Offers a wide array of edible food products, including crude oil, refined palm olein, and sunflower oil, catering to consumer, medium, bulk, and industrial segments.

 ·       Manufacturing Capacity: Possesses a substantial manufacturing and storage capacity of 50 metric tonnes.

·       Infrastructure: Operates through 3+ manufacturing plants and an extensive distribution network spanning 4+ states and other parts of the country.

 ·       Workforce: Employs over 2,000+ skilled staff members.

 ·       Sustainability Focus: Embraces sustainability in global operations, supply chain, and community initiatives.

 ·       Leadership: Currently managed by Mohanlal Dayal Chauhanand Mr. Narottam Mohanlal, succeeding the founder, India’s largest PARLE-Gcompany.

 VISIT TO PRODUCTION UNIT:

 ·       Had a visit at Production area where the PARLE-Gproduction manager gave a detailed information regarding the step-by-step process of preparing parle, system that had been followed in their plant. The biscuits after Preparing process taken to the lab which is located at their plant for quality check. After the quality check if the biscuits standards they are processed for packing and visited the Primary and secondary packing Area.

 ·       This area had many packing lines and we had a look at different biscuits karack jack, 20-20,, their confectioneries such as mango bites, kaccha mango bite, toffee, popins, parle kreams, kisses chocolates and others snacks are packed through respective pipelines.

 ·       Had a look at the biscuits packets and chocolates manufacturing area where they manufacture their own packaging packets to reduce cost rather than outsourcing it.

 After the visit to the different areas of the plant we had an interactive session with the Management team members.The General Manager and The Management team.

 To conclude, the opportunity to visit this industry has provided us with a lot of insights in regard to the production activities and other managerial sides. We thank the Director-Dr.Chidhanbara Rajan sir, Principal- Dr.M Murugan sir and Dr.M.Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao sir- HOD, Department of Management Studies, Industrial visit coordinator - Dr. Anand J and Mr. Haridharan K.N, other faculties and College management for providing us this opportunity to acquire a bright exposure in live production and markets. Once again, we feel glad to the opportunity given.
