REPORT ON WORKSHOP ON GROOMING PROFESSIONAL OUTLOOK AND COMMUNICATIONS

Department of Management Studies organised a Workshop on ‘Grooming Professional Outlook and Communication’ on 10th May 2024 at 08.30 AM to 11.40 AM. All MBA Department Faculty members and all I year MBA students of SRM Valliammai Engineering College have participated this program. The workshop catered specifically to first-year MBA students, aiming to equip them with essential skills and knowledge for their future careers. The event featured distinguished resource persons who shared invaluable insights and practical guidance on various aspects of professional development.

Dr.M.Chithra, Head of the Department, Department of English, SRM VEC commenced the workshop by delving into the intricacies of self-development. Through engaging discussions and interactive sessions, students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of self-awareness, continuous learning, and personal growth in shaping a successful career trajectory. Dr. Sheeba Manodh, Assistant Professor (Sel. Grade), Department of Management Studies, SRM VEC then led an enlightening session on effective participation in group discussions. Students learned valuable techniques for articulating their ideas confidently, actively engaging with peers, and navigating group dynamics to contribute meaningfully to discussions.

      Mr. Abhishek David Johnson, Assistant Professor (O.G), Department of Management Studies, SRM VEC provided invaluable guidance on resume preparation, offering tips and best practices for crafting compelling resumes that effectively showcase students' skills, experiences, and accomplishments. This session equipped students with the tools to create impactful resumes that resonate with potential employers. Lastly,    Dr. R. Geetha, Assistant Professor (Senior Grade), Department of Management Studies, SRM VEC enlightened students on the significance of body language in communication and strategies for effectively conveying strengths and weaknesses during interviews. Through practical demonstrations and exercises, students learned to harness the power of non-verbal cues and articulate their attributes convincingly during interviews.

      It was a really splendid presentation which exposed all participants to the field practices. All the I Year MBA students got benefited from views on the subject.  As a result of the workshop, students emerged with enhanced confidence, refined communication skills, and a deeper understanding of the nuances of professional conduct, preparing them effectively for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their careers.
