MANUFACTURING PROCESS OVERVIEW
Excel Die Castings is a manufacturing company involved in the production of precision die-cast components. The manufacturing process involves several stages, beginning with the receipt of raw materials and ending with inspection, packing and dispatch of finished components.
General Die Casting Manufacturing Process
Step
1 – Receipt of Raw Materials
Raw materials such as aluminium alloys and other required materials are
received from approved suppliers. The materials are checked for quantity and
required specifications before being accepted for production.
Step
2 – Raw Material Storage
The raw materials are stored in designated areas to prevent contamination,
damage and material mix-up. Proper storage and identification help ensure
smooth and continuous production.
Step
3 – Die and Tool Preparation
Dies and moulds are prepared according to the component design and production
requirements. The dies are inspected and properly installed in the die-casting
machine before production begins.
Step
4 – Melting of Metal
The required metal alloy is heated in a suitable melting furnace until it
reaches the required molten condition. Temperature control is important to
ensure proper casting quality.
Step
5 – Die Casting
The molten metal is injected into the prepared die under controlled pressure.
The metal fills the die cavity and solidifies to form the required component.
Proper control of pressure, temperature and injection conditions helps produce
components with the required shape and dimensions.
Step
6 – Ejection and Trimming
After solidification, the component is removed from the die. Excess material
such as runners, gates and flash is removed through trimming operations to
obtain the required casting shape.
Step
7 – Machining and Finishing
Depending on the component requirements, additional operations such as
drilling, tapping, milling and other machining processes may be carried out.
Finishing operations help achieve the required dimensions, tolerances and
surface quality.
Step
8 – Quality Inspection
The finished components are inspected at different stages of production.
Measurements and visual inspections are carried out to check dimensional
accuracy, surface finish and possible casting defects. Components that meet the
required specifications are approved for the next stage.
Step
9 – Packing and Dispatch
The approved components are packed using suitable packaging materials to
prevent damage during storage and transportation. The finished products are
then stored and dispatched to customers according to their requirements and
delivery schedules.
