THE EVENT:

Managing a hybrid work culture, which blends remote and in-office work, has become a critical priority for modern organizations. While this model offers flexibility, cost savings, and wider talent access, it also presents challenges such as communication gaps, employee disengagement, and difficulties in maintaining a unified company culture. Remote employees may feel excluded from key discussions, leading to reduced collaboration and innovation, while performance evaluation can become biased if based on visibility rather than outcomes. Technology issues, cybersecurity concerns, and blurred work-life boundaries can further impact productivity and well-being. To address these challenges, organizations must implement clear communication protocols, ensure equal opportunities for remote and in-office staff, and strengthen organizational culture through team-building initiatives and transparent leadership communication. Investing in collaboration tools, secure IT infrastructure, and employee wellness programs is essential, along with offering flexible schedules and regular feedback sessions. Training leaders to manage hybrid teams empathetically and inclusively can help foster trust, engagement, and accountability. Ultimately, a well-managed hybrid work culture balances flexibility with structure, enabling employees to stay connected, motivated, and productive while supporting long-term organizational success.

The entire event was organized and coordinated by Dr. K. LATHA, Associate Professor and convened by Dr. Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao Muramalla, Professor & Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous). All the faculty members and non-teaching staff have taken active roles for the well conduct of the event.

The commitment and hard work put in by everyone involved, from promotional activities to the vote of thanks, demonstrate a shared goal of nurturing students’ ideas and creativity. It's commendable that everyone played their part in motivating students and contributing to the overall success of the workshop.

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, managing a hybrid work culture requires a deliberate approach that prioritizes communication, inclusion, and flexibility. Organizations must focus on building trust, ensuring equal opportunities for all employees, and leveraging technology to keep teams connected and productive. By adopting fair performance evaluations, encouraging collaboration, and supporting employee well-being, leaders can turn the challenges of hybrid work into opportunities for innovation and growth. A well-structured hybrid model not only enhances employee satisfaction but also strengthens organizational resilience and competitiveness in the evolving workplace.

    THE EVENT:

India’s Path to Sustainable Development: A Roadmap for Future Leaders”

To achieve its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047, India is following a multi-pronged roadmap for sustainable development that integrates economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection

. The strategy is based on aligning national priorities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a "localization" approach, which focuses on implementation at the state and district levels.

Roadmap pillars for sustainable development

Economic Growth and Innovation

  • Rapid, sustainable, and inclusive growth: Policies are focused on accelerating infrastructure development, spurring investments, and boosting entrepreneurship while tackling issues like unemployment and inequality. The government uses digital public infrastructure (DPI), built on the Jan Dhan–Aadhaar–Mobile (JAM) trinity, to ensure inclusive, transparent, and efficient service delivery.
  • Emerging economic power: As a leader of the Global South, India is leveraging its young population and burgeoning innovation ecosystem to become a global economic powerhouse. This includes leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for public good, creating new jobs, and transforming traditional sectors like agriculture.
  • Green finance: India is strengthening its financing mechanisms for climate action. This includes developing frameworks for green bonds, green deposits, and a national carbon trading scheme to attract private investment and fund green infrastructure.

Environmental Stewardship

  • Renewable energy and net zero: India is aggressively pursuing its energy transition with a target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power generation capacity by 2030 and a net-zero target by 2070. The National Green Hydrogen Mission and the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana are key schemes to support this transition.
  • Circular economy and waste management: Initiatives promote responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) through circular practices. Technologies such as waste-to-power and innovative waste-management systems are being adopted to reduce waste and recover resources.
  • Ecosystem restoration: Efforts are underway to restore degraded land, protect biodiversity, and manage coastal and marine ecosystems. This includes compensatory afforestation and strengthening marine research.

Social Inclusion and Empowerment

  • Poverty alleviation: Multiple flagship programs, such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for affordable housing and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), have helped lift millions out of multidimensional poverty.
  • Health and education: The Ayushman Bharat scheme provides health insurance cover to millions, and the National Education Policy (NEP) focuses on digital and skill-based education.
  • Empowering the vulnerable: Targeted interventions address social disparities based on caste and gender by increasing access to resources like education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Localisation and data-driven governance

  • SDG India Index: NITI Aayog monitors progress on the SDGs at the national and sub-national levels through its SDG India Index. This encourages "cooperative and competitive federalism" by fostering healthy competition among states and union territories.
  • Capacity building: NITI Aayog is actively involved in strengthening statistical systems and establishing robust monitoring frameworks to ensure that progress is tracked transparently and effectively.

Role for future leaders

Future leaders in India will need to focus on key areas to build on this roadmap.

  • Integrated policymaking: Adopt a holistic approach that balances economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability in all policy decisions.
  • Technological innovation: Invest in clean energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable agriculture technologies to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • Inclusive governance: Empower local communities and address systemic inequalities through targeted interventions, ensuring that no one is left behind.
  • Global collaboration: Continue to leverage global partnerships, particularly with the Global South, to share expertise and mobilize resources for sustainable development.

The path to sustainable development for India is multifaceted and requires a concerted effort from all sectors of society. By continuing to focus on these pillars, India can achieve its ambitious goals and become a leader in sustainable development on the global stage.

The entire event was organized and coordinated by Dr. A. VELUCHAMY, Professor of Practice and convened by Dr. Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao Muramalla, Professor & Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous). All the faculty members and non-teaching staff have taken active roles for the well conduct of the event. It's commendable that everyone played their part in motivating students and contributing to the overall success of the workshop.

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, the workshop on “India’s Path to Sustainable Development: A Roadmap for Future Leaders” proved to be highly informative and impactful, providing participants with a deeper understanding of India’s sustainable development goals and the urgent need for collective action. The sessions inspired students to think critically, embrace innovative solutions, and take proactive steps toward addressing environmental and social challenges. The guest lecture on “ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPEMNT – Catalyzing Business Growth & MSME Schemes for Aspiring Entrepreneurs” aimed at entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business; it is about innovation, risk-taking, and creating value for society. In today’s competitive economy, entrepreneurship development plays a crucial role in catalyzing business growth by fostering creativity, enhancing managerial skills, and building resilience in aspiring entrepreneurs.

A strong entrepreneurial ecosystem fuels economic progress, generates employment, and encourages self-reliance. In India, this vision is further strengthened through various MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) schemes. These schemes provide budding entrepreneurs with access to finance, skill development, market linkages, and technology support. Programs like the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme, Cluster Development Programme, and Startup India initiatives are enabling small businesses to flourish.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, these schemes are not just financial aids; they are stepping stones toward innovation and sustainability. By leveraging these opportunities, young minds can convert ideas into enterprises, promote Make in India, and contribute to Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Distinguished Speaker:

Highlights of the Speech:

It gives the great pleasure to an important subject – the role of the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The MSME sector is rightly called the backbone of our economy. It generates employment, promotes innovation, and supports inclusive growth. In Tamil Nadu, this sector plays a vital role, contributing significantly to industrial development and exports. To strengthen this sector, the State Government has established a dedicated MSME Department.

Under the able leadership of Honourable Minister Thiru T.M. Anbarasan, the department works with a clear vision: to empower entrepreneurs, create jobs, and promote self-reliance. The Principal Secretary, Shri Atul Anand, IAS, along with institutions like TANSIDCO, TANSI, FaMe TN, and StartupTN, ensures effective implementation of schemes and policies.

The Department provides a wide range of support schemes:

·       The NEEDS scheme for new entrepreneurs,

·       The UYEGP programme to help unemployed youth start their own businesses,

·       Capital subsidies, interest subsidies, and stamp duty concessions for industries,

·       Support for innovation, patents, trademarks, and exports,

·       And most recently, inclusive schemes like the Annal Ambedkar Entrepreneurship Development Programme and the Kalaignar Handicrafts Development Scheme.

In addition, the Single Window Portal makes it easier for entrepreneurs to get licenses and approvals quickly, encouraging faster business growth. The department also supports cluster development in areas like textiles, leather, and handicrafts, ensuring that our traditional strengths are carried forward with modern competitiveness.

The results are remarkable. In the last few years, the Department has supported tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, mobilized thousands of crores in investments, and created lakhs of employment opportunities. Truly, the Tamil Nadu MSME Department has become a catalyst for economic progress and social empowerment.

In conclusion, friends, the Department of MSME, Government of Tamil Nadu, is not just implementing policies—it is building dreams, creating livelihoods, and shaping a self-reliant Tamil Nadu. As aspiring entrepreneurs, let us take advantage of these opportunities, innovate with confidence, and contribute to our state’s growth story.
