INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO ADYAR ANANDA BHAVANAMBATTUR

 

    On August 21 2024, the Department of Management Studies at SRM Valliammai Engineering College at SRM Nagar, Kattankulathur organised an industrial visit to Adyar Ananda Bhavan– Ambattur Industrial Area plant for second year MBA students to acquire practical experience with the production process and managerial duties and other operational activities involved in the industry.

 

      Students were accompanied by Mr.Hariharan, Assistant Professor - MBA and Mrs.G. Sathya, Assistant Professor - MBA, visited the A2B - Ambattur industrial estate we reached the spot around 09:30AM, the plant’s Admin staff welcomed us with his open arms. He took us around the unit and explained us each step in the production process of sweets and savories. The factory outlay was perfectly cleaned, organized and both the pathways had boards stating their layout blueprint. This factory outlets hold space for plants which adds, quality to their environment and to its aesthetic look as well and wastage clearance in Eco-friendly.

             Adyar Ananda bhavan is a private company in Indian food chain industry, operating with seven verticals like restaurants, sweets and savouries stalls, party hall, lodges etc. It follows the cooking tradition of Rajapalayam, Tamilnadu. It headquarter in Adayar, Chennai. The founder was K.S.Thirupathi Raja. It is the oldest chain of restaurants and has 200+ outlets all over world and has more than 18 outlets in USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom. The company has turnover around 1300 crores in 2023.

    The company uses advanced manufacturing processes to ensure the efficacy and purity of its   production. Quality control measures are implemented at every stage of production, starting from procuring pulses, cereals, vegetables and so on. Through this quality controls they are ensuring the same taste is maintained in all over the outlets for delivering quality products to  meet the customer expectations.

    Mr. Sabarish, HR and Mr. Arivazhagan, Factory Manager guided us in the production area and explained step by step production process. At first we entered into the sweets and savouries processing section and they explain the procedure to place order of raw materials from farmers, quality check and testing for making good quality  products by using high processing equipment is all explained.

This factory involves both highly customized manufacturing machineries and uses labors to savouries preparation for the purpose of maintaining authentic taste.  For cooking the follow double heating method which helps to retain taste for longer time. In packaging process, a metallic sensor is installed while sewing this sensor identifies the presence of any metallic items and separate it. After separation those cleared, the screening is allowed to packaging process as the package in 50 grams or 100 grams packets respectively.  For domestic distribution nitrogen with lesser level is used for less shelf life, and for export the nitrogen level is varied for extended shelf life. Ambattur plant produces large varieties north and south sweets and savouries. There are many different quality checks before transportation of goods. After packaging the product packets are stored below in rooms and then distributed to consumers.


During the visit, we come to know that they use sunflower and palm oil for frying and once this oil usage reaches below 25degree TPM are disposed for making other bio-oil process through Government. They also have separate skill training department which works with Tamil Nadu Government skill training for giving training related to food industry.  It also ensures that all employees have adequate training in this field and then absorbed by the company. Skill training officer explained the company profile and he interacted with students regarding their experience in the industrial visit. 

We thank our Director, Principal and Dr. Venkata SSR Muramalla -HOD, Department of Management Studies, Industrial visit coordinator - Dr. J.Anand, other faculty members and college management for providing us this opportunity to acquire a bright exposure in live companies.
