A Guest Lecture and Poster Presentation on CAMPUS CONNECT – A ROAD AHEAD TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS on 23rd April 2025.

 

 

PRESS NOTE ON GUEST LECTURE AND POSTER PRESENTATION

Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous), Kattankulathur in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Industry Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC) organized a Guest Lecture and Poster Presentation on CAMPUS CONNECT – A ROAD AHEAD TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS on 23rd April 2025. The essence of the event focused on initiating the awareness in the Sustainable Development Goals among students and the strategies to implement such valuable goals.

Ms. M. Janani, Human Resource Business Partner, TCS, Chennai was the Chief guest of the Guest Lecture and Poster Presentation.     

Dr. Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao Muramalla, Professor & Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous) was the convener of the event and welcomed the Dignitaries, Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the participants. He rendered thanks to the Management, Director and Principal for their support and motivation in organizing the event. Dr. J. Anand, Associate Professor and Dr. B. Kiruthiga, Assistant Professor was the coordinator of the event briefed about the Guest Lecture and Poster Presentation.  This event aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their interest towards the Sustainable Development Goals and make the effective implementation plan for their lives. There was a total of 48 teams with the posters, which was formed by students themselves and they came up with new ideas and innovative thinking for sustainable development goals.

 

 

GUEST TALK:

The Guest Lecture and Poster Presentation was inaugurated by Dr.V. Chidambararajan, Director and Dr. M. Murugan, Principal, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous), Kattankulathur with ribbon cutting. The fact that such initiatives are being introduced by the department indicated a shift towards innovative and experiential learning approach, which is a positive development for upcoming future of students.

 

THE EVENT:

In the event day, students set up 48 teams with the posters to display their interest and understanding sustainable development goals.  The guest lecture and poster presentation provided a vibrant atmosphere for networking and collaboration, with students exchanging ideas and feedback on sustainable development goals.

During the guest lecture and poster presentation event, several activities were held to encourage innovative thinking about sustainable development goals among the students. Some of the key activities included:

1.     Idea Pitching Sessions: Students had the opportunity to pitch their sustainable development goals to a panel of judges and receive feedback on how to further develop and refine their concepts.

2.     Innovation Challenges: Students were given specific challenges to solve within a limited time frame, encouraging them to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions.

3.     Networking Opportunities: The poster presentation provided a platform for students to network with faculty members, professionals, entrepreneurs, and fellow students, fostering collaboration and idea exchange.

4.     Hands on experience: This event had given the students hands on experience about the importance of sustainable goals and its effective strategies to implement in their both professional and personal lives.

 

 

 

The entire event was organized and coordinated by Dr. J. Anand, Associate Professor and Dr. B. Kiruthiga, Assistant Professor and convened by Dr. Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao Muramalla, Professor & Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous). All the faculty members and non-teaching staff have taken active roles for the well conduct of the event. The commitment and hard work put in by everyone involved, from promotional activities to the vote of thanks, demonstrate a shared goal of nurturing students’ ideas and creativity. It's commendable that everyone played their part in motivating students and contributing to the overall success of the poster presentation.

It's fantastic to hear that all 48 teams with the posters brought their unique flair and creativity to the event, making the selling activity enjoyable for the students. The fact that each poster had its own distinctive approach likely added to the overall excitement and diversity of offerings at the poster presentation.

WINNERS AND RUNNERS:

Congratulations to TEAM NUMBER 8 in the poster title of "Transforming Power Consumers into Prosumers: A Socio-Economic Impact Evaluation of the Government of India’s Rooftop Solar Scheme in Advancing Sustainable Development Goals in Tamil Nadu", for being crowned the winner of the poster presentation.  And there was a runner up TEAM NUMBER 28 in the poster title of “Empowerment and Gender Equality in the Workplace: A Study on Policies and Practices Supporting Working Women”. The evaluation process conducted by all Judges, based on feedback for each shop, highlights the fair and inclusive selection process that considers the input and experiences of everyone involved.

 

This recognition not only celebrates the efforts and success of TEAM NUMBER 8 but also acknowledges the hard work and dedication of all participants in making the poster presentation event a memorable and engaging event. It's clear that the collaborative spirit and enthusiasm of everyone involved contributed to the overall success of the poster presentation. All the participants did really by showing their creativity, innovation, and teamwork!

The students showed great enthusiasm and cooperation in organizing and participating in the poster presentation activities, demonstrating their commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on campus. Their active involvement contributed to the success of the event and created a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere conducive to creative thinking and collaboration.

CONCLUSION:

Overall, the guest lecture and poster presentation were a great success in promoting sustainable development goals among MBA students. It provided a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience in implementing the SDGs. The event was well-received by both students and faculty, and everyone look forward in organizing similar events in the future.
