INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO A2B - Adyar Ananda Bhavan Sweets India Private Limited.
On August 23rd, 2024, the Department of Management Studies at SRM Valliammai Engineering College at SRM Nagar, Kattankulathur organised an industrial visit by the MBA Students (total 55) to acquire practical experience and exposure with the production process, Quality management, Managerial duties and other organisations operation activities involved in the sweets and savouries and food products industries.
Adyar Ananda Bhavan Sweets India Private Limited, Manufacturing plant, Ambattur.
The students were accomplished by Dr. M. Hemasundari, Assistant Professor – MBA and Dr. E.P. John, Assistant Professor – MBA, visited the A2B – Ambattur 9.30 am, the HR executive and Admins of A2B welcomed us with his open arms, they took us around the unit and explained us each and every step in the production process of food items (especially Sweets and Savouries). The factory outlay was perfectly cleaned, organised and both the pathways had boards stating their layout blueprint. This industry hold space for plants which adds, Quality to their environment and to its aesthetic look as well.
Then we were guided by the Quality control team, where they explain the overall quality and maintenance process of A2B from procuring raw materials till the packaging and distribution process. Then we were guided by the production head, he then led us close to the production area and looked all the products which are produced with at most quality and effective way, they explained all the process carried by the A2B production.
The employees are very much involved in the production and ensuring safety measures with hand clows. The factory works with single shift and follow effective production ways, We could see that there were fire extinguishers.
A2B places a strong emphasis on sourcing high-quality raw materials, such as fresh vegetables, grains, and spices. Their procurement team works closely with trusted suppliers to ensure that all ingredients meet stringent quality standards. The kitchens are divided into various sections based on the type of food being prepared, such as sweets, snacks, and meals. Each section is equipped with specialized tools and appliances tailored to the specific needs of that food item. The preparation process is handled by trained chefs who follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency across all A2B outlets. The cooking process follows a precise schedule to ensure timely delivery of food to the outlets. Chefs use advanced cooking techniques and modern equipment to maintain hygiene and safety. The cooking is done in a controlled environment where temperatures, timings, and quantities are monitored closely to ensure that each batch is identical in quality and taste.
During the visit, we observed the efficient production line for sweets, snacks, and meals. From ingredient selection to the cooking process, A2B focuses on maintaining consistency in taste and hygiene.
After the valuable expose in the production unit, we were organised in a conference hall and gained the knowledge on the history of A2B, overall working process and Business activities of Adyar Ananda Bhavan industries, the presentation done by the lead - Training and Skill development cell – A2B.
This session provided us with valuable insights into A2B’s focus on employee growth and development. The Skill Development Cell outlined their systematic approach to training employees across various roles, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform efficiently. We learned about the different training modules they implement, ranging from technical skills in food preparation to customer service and hygiene practices. This interaction enhanced our understanding of how A2B prioritizes continuous learning and professional development within the company.
The conference revealed that A2B provides clear career progression pathways for its employees. With continuous training, employees have the opportunity to move into supervisory or managerial roles within the company. This motivates the workforce and contributes to high employee retention rates.

After the conference meet, we were instructed to form
and line, and assemble for return back out of campus, while leaving we were
given compliments of tasty sweet and snack gift boxes for all the students.
To conclude, the opportunity to visit this industry has provided us with a lot of insights in regard to the production activities and other managerial sides. We thank Director, Principal and Dr. Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao Muramalla - HOD, Department of Management Studies, Industrial visit coordinator - Dr. Anand J, other faculties and College management for providing us this opportunity to acquire a bright exposure in live production and markets. Once again, we feel glad to the opportunity given.
