(BODHI – G2023)




Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Industry Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC) organised an International Conference on ‘Business Opportunities of Digital Horizon in Global Economy’ (BODHI – G2023) on 15th June 2023. The theme of the conference focused on creating a forum for students, research scholars and faculty members to interact intensively on developing digital technology.


Dr. K. Sentamilselvan, Head of the Department and Convener welcomed the Dignitaries and the participants and thanked the Management, Dr. S. Ramachandran, Director (Academics) SRM Group, Dr. B. Chidambararajan, Director, SRMVEC and Dr. M. Murugan, Principal, SRMVEC for their support and motivation in convening the conference.  Dr. M. Thenmozhi, Prof & Head, Dept. of Management Studies, IIT – Madras inaugurated the conference in the august presence of Dr. K. Sentamilselvan, Convener, Heads of Departments, faculty members and students of SRM Valliammai Engineering College.

Mrs. Rajalakshmi Srinivasan, Director, Product Management, Zoho Corporation, Chennai was invited as the keynote speaker. Mrs. Rajalakshmi pointed out the relevance of the conference in today’s digital era and the significance of the conference in creating a forum to exchange and share knowledge, experience, technological developments and research in the current scenario.




Dr. S. Varalakshmi, Asst. Professor, Mazoon College, Sultanate of Oman connected through an online session and delivered a lecture on digital transformation in modern business. More than 75 research papers from students, research scholars and faculty members were received. The proceedings of the conference were released by the Chief Guest Dr. M. Thenmozhi and Mrs. Rajalakshmi Srinivasan, Director, Product Management, Zoho Corporation, Chennai.



Mrs. A. UmaDevi, Assistant Professor, Mr. Suresh.K, Assistant Professor,  Mr.C.Dilip, Assistant Professor,   Dept. of Management Studies coordinated the event and Mr. Thanga Baalaji Amuthan, Asst. Professor proposed a Vote of Thanks and concluded the conference.

Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College in association with Institution Innovation Council organised a Online webinar on title “How to plan for Business Start- ups: Legal and Ethical Issues” on 12.06.2023. The webinar was coordinated by Dr.Anand.J. The session was organized for the current students of SRM VEC. The webinar was organized to initiate and motivate to educate the participants about the Entrepreneur Skills. The Program targeted to provide opportunities to Undergraduate students, Postgraduate students and Faculty members to expand their dexterities in various significant facets involved in building the plan for Business Start- ups: Legal and Ethical Issues.

 


Mrs. S. Rathika, Associate Professor and Head- MBA, Prince SVP Engineering college, Chennai, the speaker explains the methods on how to plan for Business Start- ups and its Legal and Ethical Issues on it and its steps for a proper legal advancement and how legal and ethically doing starts-ups with proper agreement and contract. She explained about initial ethical and legal issues faced by a new firm with various practical examples (Eg. OLA, Uber), various ethical cultures, potential payoffs for establishing a strong ethical culture and gave a detailed explanation on nondisclosure and noncompete agreements. She provided insight information on how to obtain business licenses and permits without any barrier.


        After her lecture the students were given time to interact with the speaker. Students asked few doubts regarding the doubts about Start- ups and proper legal advancement without any ethical issues. Students felt that the session was more informative and interactive. SRM Valliammai Engineering College, Department of Management Studies, organised a Guest Lecture on  ‘Managing Human Resource: Health, Safety and Risk Management Perspective’ on 22nd  May 2023 at 10.30 AM to 11.50 AM Old seminar Hall (Admin Block). All MBA Department Faculty members and all I year  MBA students of SRM Valliammai Engineering College have participated this program.

Chief Guest Mrs.V.Bharani M.S.W., District Supervisor, District AIDS Prevention Control Unit, Greater Chennai Corporation, Chennai. Speaker shared about  Human resource management see employees from the perspective as a most valuable resources for the organisation and they consider their employees as assets and capital for their organisation. Motivating employees is a basic feature of human resource management in contrast with personal management. 'Risk Perspectives' explores how some of the leading risk management executives in the banking sector are responding to the key issues facing their businesses and their profession. Acquiring right man for the right job at right time in right quantity, developing through right kind of training, utilizing the selected workforce, and maintaining the workforce are the organizational objectives of HRM. HR processes should include three primary phases: pre-hiring, training, and post-hiring (which can also include employer or employee-initiated termination). This includes recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new employees. HRM also oversees employee relations, benefits, and payroll. In recent years, the scope of HRM has expanded to include strategic planning, talent management, and employee development. The three phases of human resources management are acquisition, development and termination. These phases are also known as the pre-hiring phase, the training phase, and the post-hiring phase.

             It was a really splendid presentation which exposed all participants to the field practices. All the MBA department faculty members of SRM Valliammai Engineering College and students got benefited from views on the subject.
