CONSUMER AWARENESS EXPO’26

 

Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous), Kattankulathur in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Industry Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC) organized a CONSUMER AWARENESS EXPO’26   on 27th MARCH 2026. The essence of a Consumer Awareness Expo lies in educating, empowering, and protecting consumers by making them informed participants in the marketplace. It focuses on bridging the gap between consumers and their rights, responsibilities, and available redressal mechanisms.

Dr. M. Hema Sundari, Assistant Professor (OG), Mr.K.N. Haridharan, Assistant Professor (OG), Ms. R. Parhana, Assistant Professor (OG), and Dr. S. Yuvasree, Assistant Professor (OG),  DMS.Department of Management Studies, SRMVEC were the key organizers of the Workshop.   

Dr. Venkata Sai Srinivasa Rao Muramalla, Professor & Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous) was the convener of the event and welcomed the Dignitaries, Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the participants. He rendered thanks to the Management, Director and Principal for their support and motivation in organizing the event.

 

 

 

 

 

OBJECTIVE OF A CONSUMER AWARENESS EXPO

The objective of a Consumer Awareness Expo is to educate and empower consumers so they can make informed, safe, and responsible decisions in the marketplace. It focuses on creating awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities, enabling individuals to protect themselves from unfair trade practices and exploitation.

 

The expo also aims to provide knowledge on grievance redressal mechanisms, helping consumers understand how and where to file complaints and seek justice. Another key objective is to promote ethical business practices by encouraging transparency and accountability among sellers and service providers.

Additionally, it seeks to enhance digital literacy, guiding consumers on safe online transactions, fraud prevention, and data protection. The event further encourages interaction between consumers, government agencies, and organizations, creating a platform for discussion, learning, and collaboration.

The Consumer Awareness Expo was successfully organized with the primary aim of educating and empowering consumers to make informed decisions in the marketplace. The event served as a dynamic platform to spread awareness about consumer rights, responsibilities, and the importance of ethical consumption.

The expo featured a variety of activities including awareness sessions, expert talks, interactive stalls, and real-life case discussions. These sessions highlighted key aspects such as consumer protection laws, grievance redressal mechanisms, identification of unfair trade practices, and the importance of product quality and safety. Overall, the Consumer Awareness Expo was highly impactful in building awareness, enhancing knowledge, and empowering consumers. It contributed significantly towards developing a more informed, vigilant, and responsible consumer community.

OUTCOME OF CONSUMER AWARENESS EXPO

The Consumer Awareness Expo achieved significant outcomes by enhancing the knowledge and awareness of participants regarding their rights and responsibilities as consumers. Attendees gained a clear understanding of consumer protection laws, grievance redressal procedures, and ways to identify unfair trade practices.

One of the major outcomes was the empowerment of consumers to make informed purchasing decisions and avoid fraudulent or misleading offers. Participants also developed awareness about digital safety, including secure online transactions and protection against cyber fraud.

Department of Management Studies, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (Autonomous), Kattankulathur in association with ED CELL – SRMVEC, Institution Innovation Council (IIC) ,Industry Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC) and TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS INCUBATION (TBI) organized a GUEST LECTURE IN THE TITLED ‘ESG, SUSTAINABLE FINANCE AND GREEN BONDS FOR OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE’.   on 25th MARCH 2026. The essence of the event focused to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and their growing significance in the modern business environment.

The objective of the guest lecture titled “ESG, Sustainable Finance and Green Bonds for Operational Excellence” is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and their growing significance in the modern business environment. The session aims to introduce the concept of sustainable finance and highlight the role of green bonds as effective financial instruments for supporting environmentally responsible projects.

Dr. G. GOPAL SIVAKUMAR, Founder-VISION ECXELLENCE CONSULTING (P) LTD, Chennai. The session featured an insightful and engaging delivery of speech by the Chief Guest, Dr. G. Gopal Sivakumar, Founder of Vision Excellence Consulting (P) Ltd., Chennai. In his address, he elaborated on the significance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in today’s dynamic business environment and emphasized the growing importance of sustainable finance in achieving long-term organizational success. He provided a detailed overview of green bonds as an emerging financial instrument and highlighted their role in supporting environmentally responsible projects. The Chief Guest also connected ESG principles with operational excellence, illustrating how organizations can enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and create sustainable value. His speech was enriched with practical insights, real-world examples, and forward-looking perspectives, making the session highly informative and impactful for all participants.

 

 

The technical sessions were handled by the Key Speakers, Dr. K. Latha, Associate Professor, Department of Management Studies, and Mr. P. Srinivasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, SRMVEC.
